Stabilization surgery (spondylodesis)
Areas of application
After removal of damaged disk material, a mobile or immobile cushion is inserted between the vertebrae and, if necessary, the spine is reinforced in the involved region. Optimized selection of access to the spine and of implants is particularly important, as patients’ requirements are divergent. These decisions call for substantiated knowledge and many years of technical experience on the part of the spine surgeon. Other crucial factors include precise and careful examinations of and consultation with the patient, and accurate and comprehensive analysis of examination material (X-ray, MRI, CT, laboratory values, et al).
